Successful launch of Sentinel-2B satellite

07.03.2017

Last night, the satellite Sentinel-2B* has been successfully launched by a Vega launcher from the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. Clemessy Switzerland AG, in collaboration with Siemens Convergence Creator GmbH, has developed the systems which tests and monitors the satellites (Sentinel-2A and Sentinel-2B) on the launch pad in French Guiana, up to some few seconds before lift-off.

This successful launch demonstrates one more time, the high level of technological maturity of Clemessy Switzerland in the field of satellite test systems.

*This satellite, developed by the European Space Agency, is a new cornerstone for the European Global Monitoring for Environment and Security program. Sentinel-2 is a polar-orbiting, multispectral high-resolution imaging mission for land monitoring to provide, for example, imagery of vegetation, soil and water cover, inland waterways and coastal areas. Sentinel-2 can also deliver information for emergency services. The first Sentinel-2 satellite was launched on 23 June 2015.
