Clemessy Switzerland is proud to be part of the independent Europe’s Global Satellite Navigation System project “Galileo”

In December 2017 Arianespace will carry out the sixth lift-off of Ariane 5 from the French Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, which will take four more Galileo satellites to medium-earth orbit (MEO). Currently there are 18 operational satellites in orbit out of planned 24.
Clemessy Switzerland is proud to be part of the independent Europe’s Global Satellite Navigation System project “Galileo”. In co-operation with our partners, we have delivered several types of electrical ground support systems to test the satellites:

  • Battery Simulators
  • Battery Conditioning Equipment
  • Payload Simulator

Galileo is Europe’s Global Satellite Navigation System (GSNS), providing independent high-precision positioning and timing information designed for civilian and commercial purposes, unlike the more military-orientated systems provided by the United States (GPS), Russia (GLONASS), and China (Beidou, COMPASS).
The Galileo programme was agreed in 2003 by the European Union and the European Space Agency.

Initial services became available at the end of 2016 with system completion scheduled for 2020.
