Battery Simulator: simulation of satellit battery discharge and charge at various voltages

A Battery Simulator (BS) is aimed to simulate the power and behaviour of satellite batteries.
It can simulate rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries, each of them having an adaptable and independent power.

BS SCOE can simulate several types of flight batteries like Ni/Cd or Li/Ion batteries, in charge and in discharge situation. Mainly BS is used during AIT/AIV phases for delivering the power to power conditioning and distribution unit (PCDU) of satellite.

BS architecture is based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items (power supplies, electronic loads, PC etc.) and enhanced by Clemessy’s SyCTRL products. This ensures high safety (second level protection), reliability and easy maintenance. It is designed as self-standing equipment with its own local GUI, fitted with self-test function and safety loop. Whole equipment is embedded in standard industrial 19” rack.

We offer the following options to improve usage of your SCOE:

  • Second level over voltage/under voltage/over current protection
  • Dynamic battery resistance simulation, thermal simulation, state of charge simulation
  • String voltage simulation
  • Thermistor simulation
  • Mains isolation transformer unit
  • Mini rack
  • Remote control via TCP/IP interface
  • Auto-test features
  • Interface harness (ambient, vacuum, bio-burden cables, bulk head to vacuum chamber, savers etc.)
  • Re-usable container
