Payload / Instrument SCOE

A Payload SCOE or Instrument SCOE is used to test, qualify and validate the electrical functionalities of on-board equipment (e.g. on board computer, PCDU etc.) prior its integration on a spacecraft.
It provides power, control and monitoring capabilities for the on-board equipment from the early stage of development (during R&D phases) up to launch of the spacecraft.

A Payload/Instrument SCOE has the following main functions:

  • Electrical powering of the payload
  • Sensor acquisition / simulation, actuator monitoring / simulation
  • Bus communication (Serial lines, MIL-STD-1553B, SpaceWire, CAN etc.)
  • Local Graphical User Interface

Payload / Instrument SCOE is based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items (power supplies, input/output units, electronic loads, PC, etc.) and enhanced by Clemessys’s SyCTRL products. This ensures high safety (second level protection), reliability and easy maintenance. It is designed as self-standing equipment with its own local GUI, fitted with self-test function and safety loop. Whole equipment is embedded in standard industrial 19” rack.

We offer the following options to improve usage of your Payload SCOE:

  • Second level over voltage/over current protection
  • Mains isolation transformer unit
  • Remote control via TCP/IP interface
  • Mini rack
  • Auto-test features
  • Interface harness (ambient, vacuum, bio-burden cables, bulk head to vacuum chamber, savers etc.)
  • Re-usable container
